A new resource is now available from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation, in partnership with the Center for Medicaid Services, Office of Disability, Aging, and Long-Term Care Policy: “Using Medicaid to Support Working Age Adults with Serious Mental Illnesses in the Community: A Handbook”. The handbook includes a useful index that allows the user to easily find information on funding services such as supported employment, peer support, evidence-based practice, consumer-directed services, supportive housing, family psychoeducation, etc.

Creating a Diversified Funding Base - Community organizations providing customized employment services will benefit greatly from tapping into a diversified funding base. Diversifying funding improves the ability of a service provider to represent the job goals and choices of individual consumers responsively with employers. Diversification also presents a number of potential challenges. This fact sheet provides strategies that address key questions on both the challenges and opportunities involved with diversified funding.
