Jesse Price

Topic: Customer Driven Services: An Interview with Jesse Price

Jesse Price has been receiving services from the mental health system in Washington D.C. for more than 32 years. It began when he was in graduate school. He was having some problems and sought services in a private mental system. At the time they didn't have any beds at the hospital that he went to, so he was placed in a public mental hospital under the court order for 2 weeks. It was a shock for him and it really changed his life. For nearly two decades, he was in and out of the hospital.

Now having a good treatment team for 5 years, he has stopped cycling in and out of the hospital. He has received a proper diagnosis and a good medication plan. In 1993, he returned to work at a training position with a company and later in a competitive employment position for about a year. Currently, he is looking at some private business ventures and continuing to learn as much as he can about customized employment.
