Dr. Wehmeyer is an internationally recognized expert on self-determination for individuals with severe and developmental disabilities. He has published more than 150 journal articles and book chapters, many of them on self-determination and access to the general curriculum, and is the co-editor or co-author of 15 books on these and other subjects. In addition, Dr. Wehmeyer has served as the primary investigator for multiple research projects on transition to adulthood, self-determination, technology use, and access to the general curriculum for individuals with developmental disabilities. In addition to his role in the Beach Center , Dr. Wehmeyer is associate professor of special education at KU and director of the Kansas University Center on Developmental Disabilities.
